Our Wilby Park track is basically a sealed circuit, which has a hairpin bend, back straight, dogleg, kidneys, sweeper and front straight. The track is just on 1 km long. Some cars reach up to 160 km an hour along the front straight. Driver ages range from 12 to 16 years of age as juniors. Then there is the senior drivers which has no age limit. In this day and age speedway driving is not only enjoyed by male drivers. There are a lot of talented female drivers out there too. At our Wilby club we have lady drivers in both junior and senior categories. Juniors must be accompanied by a senior club member who also holds a current full drivers license. Our speedway club is very much family orientated We have quite a few mums and dads who accompany their sons/daughters in the junior class. A push’n’shove crash’n’bash win at any cost attitude is not accepted at our club. We fiercely promote non-contact clean racing. Our Wilby Park circuit is the ideal track for juniors to learn the skill of handling a car and negotiating road conditions purely because of the nature of the track. We have the St. John’s Ambulance attend all our meetings. We also have the local fire brigade in attendance at all meetings. Speedway racing isn’t necessarily an expensive sport to get involved in. To have a car barred out ready to race plus the purchase of all the necessary drivers gear can be achieved on a budget of approximately $2,000, including drivers insurance, scrutineering and club membership.

Most of our speedway cars are made up of Fords and Holden's. Some are slightly modified, some are plenty modified. For example:- EA Falcon 250 worked EFI. XF Falcon 250 mild. FC/Commodore – which is an FC Holden body on VK Commodore chassis with Toyota 2.5 litre turbo twin cam 24 valve motor (with in car camera). VN Commodore with 3.8 V6 worked motor and a 1957 Anglia with turbo/stroked Holden 6 motor, (just to mention a few). Each car is allocated to a particular class according to their modifications. We run 5 different classes at present. Each class races 4 heats by 5 laps. Trophies are awarded for 1st 2nd and 3rd highest point scorers at the end of the days racing for their particular class. Our club cars get invited to other clubs such as Nagambie, Moama, Rushworth and Corowa during the race season and some of those clubs join us on some of our race days during the season.
